Seeds for Thought
July 2005

Thank goodness for some rain at last, I was beginning to fear for the raspberries and tomatoes.

It seems that our gardening members are very busy at this time. So, for that reason (and that I am also too busy) and because of the small number who were able to come to the June meeting, there will be no meeting in July.
The Community Plantings are looking great. Thank you to all who helped and of course to those who are watering. The benches that were purchased have been placed on a trial basis to test out various sites, and they all seem to get substantial use where they are placed. We have some work to complete at the Children’s Day Care Centre, and at the Cenotaph in Lion’s Head, hopefully in the next few months. Thank you also to Martin for the historical pieces in the Peninsula Press.
I hope you will be able to visit some of the lovely gardens in the area, both public and private. There are a lot of beauties, and doesn’t it seem a wonderful year for flowering shrubs?
Finally, we need to sell more Raffle tickets for the handsome Bar- B-Que Trolley crafted by Grant Murray. The tickets are available for sellers at Ellen’s Pet Store. They are also available for purchase at Peninsula Pharmacy, Marydale’s Restaurant, Scott’s Pro Hardware, Royal Bank Lion’s Head, Ilona’s Hair Salon, Peninsula Out-of-Doors, Stokes Bay General Store and Lakeside Rainbow Park. Thanks for your help. The draw will take place at the Parish Hall in Lion’s Head at 5 p.m. on Sunday, 31 July 2005. Join us for the excitement.
Well, it is time to get ready for the visitors, Happy Summer.

Liz,
President
